Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is with profound honor and sincere pleasure that I invite you to the VII Kraków Workshop on Congenital Heart Disease, to be held on 5–6 June 2026 in Kraków, Poland.

This Workshop continues a distinguished tradition of scholarly exchange rooted in the enduring values of academic excellence, intellectual integrity, and international cooperation. It is conceived as a forum where experience meets innovation, and where thoughtful, courageous discussion advances our shared mission of improving care for patients with congenital heart disease.

Over the years, the Kraków Workshop has been honored by the presence of the most distinguished figures in the world of congenital and pediatric cardiovascular medicine. The fact that the leading minds of our discipline have chosen Kraków as a place to share their ideas, challenge prevailing concepts, and engage in open debate has shaped the unique standing and reputation of this meeting.

This year, we are particularly proud to be joined by some of the brightest minds in our field — experts whose insight and experience promise to make this Workshop even more stimulating and impactful. Kraków offers a setting of singular distinction for such a gathering. As the historic capital of Poland and the home of the Jagiellonian University, founded in 1364, the city has for centuries stood as a beacon of learning, culture, and scientific leadership. It is also a truly unique place on earth — a genius loci where intellectual freedom is deeply ingrained, and where one does not need to consider what is appropriate to say and what should remain unspoken. Here, ideas may be expressed openly, debated honestly, and refined through mutual respect and trust.

This atmosphere is no coincidence. It reflects a defining feature of Polish tradition itself — a deep and abiding respect for freedom as a fundamental national value. Throughout our history, freedom of thought, spirit, and expression has shaped our culture and continues to inspire our approach to science, dialogue, and human connection.

The Kraków Workshop has always been characterized by this exceptional spirit — combining the highest scientific standards with openness, collegiality, and friendship. We believe that genuine progress in medicine is achieved not only through formal lectures, but also through frank dialogue, constructive disagreement, and the free exchange of perspectives among peers who share responsibility for the future of our field.

I extend to you a most cordial invitation to join us in Kraków for what we trust will be an inspiring and memorable meeting — both scientifically and personally. The preliminary program is enclosed for your consideration.

I look forward to welcoming you to Kraków in June 2026.

With my highest regards,

Tomasz Mroczek
